The immune-metabolic nexus in the pancreatic islet
abstract: The pancreatic islet is an endocrine unit with one mission: maintain glucose homeostasis. It is composed of multiple cell types including immune cells. My talk will focus on the role of postprandial inflammation in proper islet function (Doctoral studies), the recently identified epigenetically distinct islet-beta cell subsets (Postdoctoral studies), and the open questions that lead to my future research plan that aims to study the immune-metabolic nexus in the pancreatic islet. (which is also the title of my talk.)
